***SPECIAL FLU SEASON BULLETIN ***
The flu season is upon us. Pregnant women, newborn babies, and acutely ill patients, have a much higher risk associated with the flu. For the safety of patients, visitors, and staff, if you have flu symptoms, please use our hand washing gel and wear a protective mask while in the hospital facilities.
While we recognize the importance and benefit of visiting friends and loved ones, our first concern is the well-being of our patients. For this reason, the physicians and clinicians of Los Alamitos Medical Center have temporarily decided to limit the visitation of children under the age of 16. Children (including siblings) under the age of 16 will not be allowed to visit patients during flu season.
This was a difficult decision to make but one we believe is important in providing the safest possible environment. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation and for helping us in our mission to improve the health and well-being of individuals, families, and the community. For the safety of patients, anytime you are sick or not feeling well, please do not visit a patient.
Welcome to Los Alamitos Medical Center. For the convenience of visitors, there is a cafeteria, gift shop, vending machines, private physician/family consultation room, volunteers to assist you, and patient services managers for both in-patients and out-patients. There is free parking and a transportation shuttle to get you to the hospital or other campus buildings. The Los Alamitos Medical Center campus includes the TotalCare Pavilion, three medical office buildings, and an ambulatory surgery center.
Los Alamitos Medical Center wants both its patients and visitors to be healthy. If you are sick or not feeling well, please delay your visit to a patient to another time.
To reduce your risk of illness, cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or sleeve when sneezing or coughing. After sneezing or coughing, wash your hands with soap and water. Wash your hands frequently, especially after using the bathroom.
Healthy Habits. Los Alamitos Medical Center is a smoke-free campus. No smoking is permitted in the hospital proper, medical office buildings, patios, courtyards, the TotalCare Pavilion, or parking lots. Thank you for helping us to create and maintain a healthy environment.
Plan of Care and Discharge Instructions Upon admission, all patients will receive an admission/discharge folder of information. Please keep this at your bedside until you are ready to go home. This folder will contain information on your plan of care and what to do when you are discharged.
